Weird Japanese Pillows

Add comment February 13th, 2008

Girlfriend PillowToday on the Ellen show she was showing some interesting things from Japan. First she showed the boyfriend pillow and I thought boy that looks familiar. Then she showed the girlfriend pillow and I knew where I saw it. You can get these from Jlist.com.

Boyfriend Pillow They have a huge collection of pop culture items from Japan for Adults to Kids, just make sure you don’t get the two mixed up if you know what I mean.

The funniest thing about the pillows is Ellen tried out the boyfriend pillow but refused to go near the girlfriend pillow. Guess she did not want her audience getting any ideas about her ;)

With all the horrible drivers out there and the fact that almost everyone I know has been in some kind of accident or fender bender in the past couple of months this little device might be a pretty good idea.

car cameraIt is a combo camera, dvr, LCD screen and rear view mirror. It records all the action in fromt of you catching all the evidence if an accident or aggressive drive happens your way. Check out the car camera for more info or to buy this cool device.

Elf Spock in my House

Add comment February 8th, 2008

I got a small enevelope in the mail containing the very elusive Elf Spock Minimate.

This particular minimate is not available any where [except maybe evilBay] as they were a holiday giveaway from Diamond Select Toys to their retailers and folks they do business with.

Once I heard about him I had to have me one! Not that I am a completist when it comes to my collection [I still need a YE Yar to complete my Playmates Star Trek Collection], but I have been trying to get just about everything and well I just love the minimates since they are so small and cute.

You can check out the Spock Elf at StarTrekToysOnline.com. Heck you can even join and rate him if you so desire.

BK Wouldn’t Let Me Have It My Way

1 comment February 8th, 2008

Top of the receipt says, “Have it your way…” yet I wasn’t allowed to have it my way. I don’t normally eat a lot of Burger King food as I don’t care for the taste of the flame broiled [charbroiled] meat, but every once in awhile I want a whopper.

I heard about this Whopper Wednesday deal and thought, “Heck I’ve been hankering a whopper guess I will get one tonight.” First, the BK I went to did participate in the wednesday special so I had to pay full price. Secondly, and mostly upsetingly, I could not have it my way.

I wanted extra pickles on my whopper, but when I ordered I was told they were out of pickles. How in the hell does a fast food restaurant run out of pickles? Don’t they get deliveries on a regular basis? And don’t those pickles come in five gallon buckets? So how do you run out of pickles?

Well the burger wasn’t good and perhaps the pickles would have helped but I don’t think so. If I ever go back to that particular restaurant I will be sure to ask for extra on everything as my sandwich was dry and tasteless. So does Burger King stand behind there Whoppers and do anything about it when a customer can’t have it their way? We’ll find out as I intend on giving them a call tomorrow.

One Person’s Office Perk is Another Person’s Nightmare - Dogs at the Office

1 comment February 4th, 2008

One of these so-called office perks that more employers are offering is the ability to bring your dog to work. This is considered quite the office perk for some employees, but not all. And it is an easy one for companies to offer as it usually doesn’t cost a thing, except the discomfort of other employees who don’t like dogs, are afraid of them or are allergic to them. Companies really need to take all these things into account before allowing employees to bring their pets into an office setting.

Really the animals should not be in the general office area and should be confined to closed-off offices. With so many people having allergies these days we have to consider all people in the work place and having animals in the office just might be hazardous to someone’s health if you are not careful.

Where I work the company is lose with that policy and people bring their dogs in to the office. Nice for them. Bad for me. There really is no thought to my wellbeing. I sit there scratching my hives, having trouble breathing and trying to deal with the sinus discomfort caused by an animal that everyone knows I am allergic to. It is no office secret that I go to the doctors on a weekly basis for shots, pills and nasal medications for my allergies. I even went through a serious sinus surgery a year ago, but they persist in exasperating my condition by subjecting me to an allergen which is very bad for me. They might as well feed me peanuts (I’m allergic to them as well). All I can say is thank god none of them have a German Shepherd as my deadly fear of them would keep me out of work. (Yes, I also have a phobia about dogs too.)

So hopefully all the companies out there who are offering this as an office perk are taking into consideration all the people who would rather not be around dogs at work. Perhaps an offer of a doggy daycare would be better than simply having them in the office where they can affect the job performance of the other employees not to mention the performance of the dog’s owner as they now require extended or additional breaks to take the dog out or they stop and play with the dog several times during the day.

Here are a few things to think about before taking your dog into work with you:

  • Is your dog friendly to all types of people? Will he get along with everyone? Will everyone get along with him?
  • Is he quiet? No unexplained barking, howling or growling? Can’t have loud noises well on the phone with clients.
  • Is he well behaved? No jumping up on people, chairs or at tables.
  • Above all is he house trained? You don’t want to spend half your day cleaning up after him. You don’t want to offend co-workers with foul smells, especially after the dog is no longer there.
  • Was he bathed recently? Dogs have a smell, even clean ones. A clean dog will be less offensive to the people around you.
  • Are any of your fellow co-workers allergic, have a phobia or simply dislike dogs? Might want to find out before taking your pooch in to work with you.

Brent Spiner Records Again

Add comment February 3rd, 2008

I am looking forward to the new CD Dreamland which is described as a cross between an old time radio show and a broadway musical. Brent Spiner is joined by singer Maude Margart and Mark Hamil [that guy from Star Wars and numerous cartoons like Batman]. The new CD looks promising and by the looks of the above video they had fun making the disk.

Being the geek that I am I spent the extra five bucks to get a signed version of the disk. [Which reminds me I need to head to Robert Picardo’s website and order his CD too.] You can get the new Brent Spiner [aka Data] CD at his website www.the realbrentspiner.com.
