I first heard of Laurell K. Hamilton and Anita Blake Vampire Hunter on a toy collector’s forum a few years ago from a fan of the series. I picked up Guilty Pleasures, the first book, and rather enjoyed. Now fast forward a few years. I just picked up the audio version of the book Incubus Dreams, which is book twelve in this series not having read the other ten books in between. So I had high expectations for this story.
I finally finished the audio version of Laurell K. Hamilton’s Incubus Dreams. Thank god I was listening to the abridged version (only 10 discs) instead of the unabridged version (24 discs). Twelve hours of this dribble was bad enough I don’t think I could have made it through thirty hours.
So what exactly did they cut out of this story for the abridged version? I thought perhaps major plot points were dropped. But according to the reviews I was reading about the book that might not be the case. So they must have cut out some of the sex or perhaps the sexual scenes had gone into much more graphic detail than what I was getting. I don’t know and I have no intentions of finding out.
I will read her earlier works (I loved Guilty Pleasures when I read that a few years ago and now in comic book form from Marvel), but I don’t think I will bother with any of the books beyond this one. Incubus Dreams is 12th in the Anita Blake series so I will have plenty to check out before I finally give up on this author.
If I wish to read (or in this case hear) pure Vampire/Werewolf erotic fantasy I will look for books like Deep Inside by Polly Frost. With Anita Blake I was hoping for a Vampire mystery with a little sex in the mix, not that the entire story would be filled with only sex. We lost the whole aspect of any mystery or case a few chapters into this storyline and never got it back again until the very end of the book. Everything in between was one sexual experience after another. We had characters come and go too easily without any story development. What happened to the Vampire servant Damian? Anita f—ks him and he has a complete vampiric break down only to drop out of the story completely without resolving the problems brought on by the encounter. That is only one of many, many flaws with this story. The story ends with what else, more sex and the mystery is left unresolved. Not that I will be picking up book 13 in the series any time soon to see if this author bothers to fill her readers in or not.
My suggestion is to stay away from this story. Go ahead and read the earlier works of this author but don’t bother with this book. Even better check out the comic book version of Anita Blake Vampire Hunter (at least she is actually hunting vampires, raising the dead and dealing with werewolves instead of just f—king them all).
As I said I was listening to this story. I did not yet mention the flaws in the audio version, which is published by Brilliance Audio and read by Cynthia Holloway. Cynthia does a good job of rendering the characters and keep our interest even if the story can’t. My biggest problem with the audio version is the production. The publishing company Brilliance Audio sees fit to add unneeded audio at the beginning and end of each disk. Most people today take their discs and turn them into MP3s, which is what I did and that is why I found the fade in/out music and notice to put in the next disk a real distraction. Combine that with the repeated two or three lines of text from the previous disc and the annoyance only compounded. So drop the unwanted extras from your audio discs and maybe they will be easier to listen, although even that would not have helped this story.

As you can see I am up and posting this morning. This is a good thing trust me. In the past when I would get as upset as I did yesterday I would not have felt like doing anything for days. I would have spiraled down into a pit of depression so deep I would think there was no way out. And last night I really felt like that is where I was heading. Now I have a bit of hope.
I did get a fairly good night’s sleep although I did give myself a little medicated help. (I had to or I would have lain in bed all night long staring at the dark ceiling unable to quiet my mind.) I woke up this morning feeling a little better about things and surprisingly no headache (with my sinuses and the way I was crying all day yesterday that is a BIG surprise). I tried just lying there relaxing with my cats (they had all come up to say feed me), but I could not enjoy the morning. Once I was fully awake my mind kept returning to yesterday and how bad I felt and how awful going to work on Monday will be.
So I dragged myself out of bed, fed those darned pusses and here I am typing away. Perhaps if I can keep myself busy with other things today and tomorrow Monday won’t be such a hellish Monday after all. I hope.

Well, as you can tell by my post yesterday things at work are not the best and haven’t been for quite sometime. Besides all the personal issues I have there I am also struggling financially. The cost of me just going to work has almost tripled over the past year! The commute is eventually going to kill me. I am not exaggerating here every time I get in my car on that highway my blood pressure shoots to over 160/100! (I am afraid I will have a stroke or heart attack behind the wheel someday.)
My bills are piling up because I have to set more money aside to pay to go to work and less is going to the bills I already have. This is not a good position to be in that’s for sure. I am pretty much trapped by my job. So how do I get out of this mess? I am not exactly sure, but I am looking into personal loans as a possible solution before my credit gets any worse. I have been doing some research online and PersonalLoansMania.com offers loans to even people like me with less than perfect credit scores. So there might be a light at the end of this dark tunnel after all.
This brighter future is made possible by PersonalLoansMania.com

Incubus Dreams is the twelfth book in the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K Hamilton. Sticking with the formula that she knows well this story is full of vampire sex and murder. Although this particular story seems to be more sex than mystery, but it does eventually get back to the question at hand of who or what is murdering these girls.
I have been listening to the audio version of the book. It is nicely read. However, the production leaves a little to be desired. They felt the need to add odd porn like music to the beginning and end of each disk. (I guess the music is pretty fitting when you think of the amount of Vampire/Human/Werewolf sex in this story.) Along with that noise they also tell you the disk is over and to put the other disk in when you do you are greeted by the new disk number and a repeat of the last few lines from the previous disk.
They really could have left those little extra features off the disks as they are more a distraction than they are a help.

What better way to cheer up after a hard day at work than watching someone working way to hard for a little bit of fun. And all the hard work only seems to be a turn on for the guys watching the video as the only see the hot chick and not the hydroslide it is supposed to be promoting. Let me know what you think this video is all about — the girl or the hydroslide?

I had the world’s worst day at work. I haven’t felt this bad in a very, very long time. Perhaps it is simply the compounded issues of my emotional and physical state since the accident along with the long held in stress from everything at work. I just want to scream but all I do is cry.
I honestly did not know I could cry this much in one day.

Justice League A New Frontier is a very entertaining animated film based on the graphic novel by the same name from Darwyn Cooke. The League is up against The Centre an evil of biblical proportions. Learn the origins of Martian Man Hunter and Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern. Set around he same time as the McCarthy era. Can the Justice League unite and save the world?
Animation is very good not overly anime-influenced like most animation these days. Voices are all very fitting with only one exception, the voice of Batman. Jeremy Sisto does the voice while I liked him in Six Feet Under his voice for a cartoon sounds more like a villain that of the Batman. All our other heroes had nice clear, crisp voices, but Bat’s was gravelly and sinister. Yes, he is the Dark Knight, but Sisto’s voice might have been too dark.
Lucy Lawless made a nice Amazon (once again) playing a Wonder Woman with a slightly twisted sense of justice.
Additional Cast: Phil Morris, Neil Patrick Harris, Lucy Lawless, Miguel Ferrer, David Boreanaz

A few years ago one of my best friends and I had a whirlwind vacation out to Los Angeles. I had just returned from a family vacation to southern Germany and the very next weekend I am back on a plane to LA for the weekend. Yes, you heard me right, I said for the weekend. Normally, when I go places I like to go and stay for a while. That way I get to see things and experience the area more.
We flew into LAX and went straight to our hotel. We were in town for the very first Farscape convention which was being held in our hotel. We really did not have the need to drive anywhere so neither of us had rented a car. So no going anywhere other than the convention or so you would think.
Between convention events we went out to Griffiths Park to visit Forrest J Ackerman’s sci-fi museum, which was amazing. Then that evening my best friend from high school who was now living in LA picked us up and gave us a late night tour of the city. Renee drove us all over the place. She took Mary and me to this neat little sci-fi cafe and out to the coast so Mary could touch the pacific ocean. This was my Mary’s first trip to Los Angeles and it would have been more interesting for her had we had the time to actually take some sightseeing tours a bit, but we did not.
We’ll just have to plan more carefully and take the time to schedule something through TrustedTours.com. Hey, they may even be offering up a contest to win a tour. That would be cool. I know right now you can win $150 iTunes gift card just for signing up to their newsletter.

I think the post writer’s strike slump that seems to plague all of television these days has finally hit my favorite sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.
The last two episodes where Sheldon’s twin sister visits and Leonard’s birthday party were just lacking that extra spark of geekiness I have come to love since this show has been on the air.
Well I look forward to a fresh start and a bunch of great episodes next season. (In case you can’t figure that out that is a hint CBS. Light a fire under those writers of yours.)

Frontier(s) is a horror film coming out of France (seems like all of the really good scary films these days are foreign). I am telling you just the trailer will scare the pants off of you. If you like Hostel (the first film not the sequel) or SAW (any of them) you are bound to like Frontier(s).
This is the only horror movie from Horrorfest 2007 that was too disgusting and horrible for mainstream theaters. However, even though it is unrated and bloody disgusting Frontier(s) did make it to a few select theaters this past May 9th. I see it is still running in Philadelphia so maybe I will get the chance to see it on the big screen although the unrated, uncut DVD hit streets May 13th.
Lionsgate films sure know how to get our adrenalin pumping.
