We surprised the boys with tickets to the Monster TruckRally this past weekend. We hired a babysitter for their little sister, and told the boys we had a surprise. They were looking forward to it all day. Once we were in the car, I handed each of them a toy monster truck as a hint. They still didn’t get it, so we had to tell them. They were thrilled.
We aren’t really the Monster Truck type of family, but had seen the rallies on cable tv and knew it would be something they would enjoy. It was really, really loud in there. Luckily, my husband had the forethought to bring ear plugs for us all. It was pretty fun, I’d say.
I don’t feel like it is something we need to do again, by any means, but it was a fun experience. I was really surprised to see that there is clearly a whole subculture of Monster Truck fans that I did not know existed. Adults were cheering and yelling as if it really mattered who won.
