Here is my review that Yelp.com seems to have flagged/filtered/removed for their own stupid reasons.

Five Stars ***** for 1Up Collectibles

This is the best comic shop in the area hands down!

I have had issues with other shops giving you attitude (think Comic Book Guy in the Simpsons). NOT HERE.

The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable about his products (and customers). I went in looking for back issues because my previous store had screwed up my subscriptions so bad I was missing loads of issues. When they did not have them in stock he went out of his way to find them for me and I have been a regular ever since.

Since I have started getting my subscriptions here there have been a few hiccups but every single one of them was dealt with promptly and with superior customer service.

For one of the best in shop comic book experiences around head to 1Up Collectibles.

I feel censored by them when I come in and give a good review only to have it disappear because they feel my review (my thoughts, my opinions) are not valid. Instead of removing these supposedly bought/paid for reviews why not simply require us to put in a FCC disclaimer at the end of every review (we have to do it for blog posts why shouldn’t they have to do it as well?) Then the world could judge for itself if the review is valid or not.

Disclosure/Disclaimer: I was not given anything in exchange for this review. Unless you count the bag full of comics I come home with every time I visit 1Up Collectibles, but I pay for those…oh yeah…I do get a discount but that’s part of my subscription service (anyone will get that if they subscribe), so I don’t think that counts as a gift. Besides it was not in exchange for this review.

With the new Batman Dark Knight Rises film coming out this summer, I really wanted to get a Batman costume this year for Halloween. Heck there is even still time to get one before the film hits the theaters if you wish to go to the midnight showing dressed as the Dark Knight.

Batman Costume For a great selection of Batman costumes check out Costume Discounters. The have a great selection of Batman (classic), Batgirl and Dark Knight costumes.

I got the Dark Knight costume hoping it would actually fit me this year after having lost some weight. (Yay it did, mostly.) This costume includes everything you need to jump in your Batmobile and hit the convention, movie or party right out of the package. Costume comes complete with the iconic Batman cowl with attached cape, one piece costume, boot covers and utility belt.

All the adult costumes have a padded muscle chest piece, which looks nice but doesn’t feel great wearing it. For women this can act as further disguise of who you are underneath that cowl, but the chest piece is rather broad across the shoulders and does not allow for easy moment. Idela if all you want to do is strike a superhero pose with shoulders back and hands on hips (like the photo). This is not a big deal if you are only going to be in it for a few hours at a party or the movies, but if you plan on spending all day at a comic con you might want to see about altering it.

The material is a light weight polyester (stretchy material) that makes the costume easy to get on and should not make you over heat too quickly. However, it is not too thin of a material that it would make you uncomfortable wearing it.

Some much needed accessories would be gauntlets (gloves) and Batarangs, but not necessary for a good Batman look.

I highly recommend that you take the costume out of the package long before you want to wear and reform the cowl and utility belt as they are not ready to go straight out of the box, so to speak.

This is an official DC Comics licensed Batman costume.

Disclosure: I was sent this Batman costume by Costume Discounters for this review. This in no way guides this review or my opinion of the products. All comments and remarks are my own.

Being a child of the 80s the Go-Go’s are a big deal to me. They were one of the first bands I really liked and I still like their music even if it isn’t like all the other dark, gloomy, heavy stuff I usually listen too. The Go-Go’s will remain a favorite band of mine. That being said, it is with extreme pleasure (and a little bit of jealousy as I would like to keep this) that get to give away this autographed CD insert from the Go-Go’s signed by all five band members. This was given to me by band member Jane Wiedlin (you can also win signed copies of her Lady Robotika comic over at ScifiSlacker.com).

She donated these great prizes to help us raise money for One By One Cat Rescue during SCIFIpawty (a virtual science fiction convention my cat Boris holds every year).

So how do you go about entering our contest? Just answer the trivia question in the comments below and you are entered into our random drawing for this super awesome prize.

Want more chances to win? Donate to our charity using the same email address as the used to answer the question below and you’ll get another entry for every $5 you donate.

Answer this Question in the comments: Where was Jane on March 11th to 13th? (hint)

Fine Print: No purchase necessary, void where prohibited, odds of winning depends on number of entries. One entry per person, household, email address, etc. Contest ends 4/5/11.

Call me crazy (hahaha very funny), but I love this Wampa Rug. It is an officially licensed Star Wars product made by ThinkGeek.com (gotta love those geeks).

I already have the TaunTaun sleeping bag (and I have to make a lightsaber noise every time I open it too). It keeps me toasty warm on those cold Hoth winter nights.

Apparently the slave girl is not included with the Wampa Rug, sorry fan boys.

Collecting gold coins is not only a fun hobby but a great investment too. You can share the fun of buying gold coins with the whole family.

Check out Goldline.com for some very interesting facts about gold coins as well as informative price quotes on the current value of your gold collection.

If only I had collected gold coins instead of Star Trek action figures my collection could actually be worth something now instead of just sitting in my storage locker taking up room and costing me money. Sadly I know more about Star Trek than I do about trading gold. Thank goodness for Goldline International and their very informative site. Now I will have some knowledge should I decide to change those Trek toys into gold, literally.

A co-worker pointed out the pointy eared little buggers to me last week and the more I think about them the more I want them!

Spock Bear is of course my first choice if I were to only get one.

My niece told me that everybody should own a Vermont Teddy Bear and I must say I think I agree with her!

PopHangover.com HungoverThe fine and rather sarcastic folks over at Pophangover.com must have been hungover when they reviewed the Spock action figure on their site.

Take a look at the picture to the right. As you can see they are clearly talking about the NEW Spock action figures from Playmates Toys, but are comparing it to Leonard Nimoy as Spock. So of course the photo of the actual person isn’t going to look ANYTHING like the action figure and vice versa.

Perhaps as a pop culture site they are so out of touch with reality that they don’t really know what is going on in the world of pop culture any more? Have they had their collective heads in the sand for the past year? Do they not know that their is a NEW Star Trek movie with a whole new cast? Spock is now played by Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes).

Now with that new knowledge people, try your little review again. Your two main complaints about the figure seem a perfect match when compared to the correct actor.

Quinto as Spock Quinto Toy vs Nimoy Spock

I would say the toy is pretty close, not dead on, but pretty dang close to Quinto (but certainly not Nimoy). And I’m the slacker here :)

Star Trek Bridge Wall MuralI have been telling FatHead for years that they needed to make Star Trek wall stickers. I even contacted the cardboard people to see if they were going to do them (they let their license go a bout two years ago and I bet they are kicking themselves now). Roommates has picked up the slack and their stuff looks good and costs less than FatHeads anyway.

Star Trek Wall MuralsI have to get me some of these. Wish I had a wall to do the full wall mural of the Enterprise bridge. (Wouldn’t that be sweet with the life-sized captain’s chair?)

I may wind up settling for the giant wall appliques. I could handle having just a Kirk or Spock standing next to my PC. But like I always asked when I was bothering the other companies, please bring us some big ships for our walls and ceilings!
