Jodie Foster Out or Not?

Add comment December 12th, 2007

Jodie FosterLooks like Jodie foster may have just outed herself after all these years of wondering. During her recent acceptance speech for the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the 16th Annual Women in Entertainment breakfast she publicly thanked her long time friend Cydney Bernard. She thanked her by saying, “my beautiful Cydney who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss.”

Fans have often wondered if not wished she were a lesbian. Now it seems she is a little more comfortable with it and is letting the rest of us in on the secret. Jodie has always been good at staying out of the tabloids and I don’t see her coming out [if indeed she did] would make her any more of a target for them.

All I have to say is — way to go Jodie and congrats on that award too.

Now that’s a game I might have to get…

Add comment November 17th, 2007

The new Microsoft game Mass Effect has been banned in Singapore due to graphic content.

What is that graphic content you might ask? Well, two women kissing. The game has a scene in which a human woman is kissing and caressing an alien woman. Singapore’s Media Development Authority reportedly banned it.

Singapore has a ban on sex between men, which was recently upheld by their parliament and their Prime Minister said the city-state should keeps its values and not allow rights to homosexuals. [Pigs!]

So far Singapore is the only closed-minded country to ban the game.

Guess I am going to have to get someone to buy me an XBOX 360 and a copy of this game. Has anyone posted a video of this scene on YouTube yet.

What Did You Say? Dumbledore is Gay

Add comment October 20th, 2007

Rowlings outed Dumbledore this weekend at a question and answer session at Carnegie Hall in New York. A kid asked her if Dumbledore ever loved anyone, her reply was “Dumbledore is gay, actually”.

Personally, I think it was brave of her to make such a statement and to stick by it. According to ABCNews.com, she was in a script read through for the sixth film when they had Dumbledore talking about a girl he once knew and she pointed it out to the movie folks right then and there that he was in fact gay.

Of course this just adds fuel to the fire to all the right-winged, Christian nut jobs out there who thing that the Harry Potter books series is the coming of the anti-christ. For goodness sakes it is a non-religious, fictional fantasy series people. Go fight some real evil and lower my gas prices!

One idiot, Laura Mallory, even went so far as to say “A homosexual lifestyle is a harmful one. That’s proven, medically.” WTF? What medical journals is she getting her science fiction from? But what can we expect from someone who got notoriety by proclaiming that the book series was indoctrinating kids into the Wiccan religion. Sounds to me like she is just one more of those people who are out to ban Halloween and Christmas trees just because they are based on pagan religions.

The book series is good and no political or religious agenda is pushed on anyone, child or adult. The only thing Rowlings pushes on anyone is tolerance and acceptance. Unlike those who are spouting all of this hate toward everyone over a fictional character.

Howdy Partner!

Add comment October 19th, 2007

I really, really hate the term partner when referring to an intimate relationship. When I hear the term I actually cringe. Partner just brings to mind business partners, tennis partners and cowboys.

I watch a lot of BBC America and I hear the term frequently, usually when referring to a straight person’s other half. I see the British folk have picked up the term and ran with it. Whatever happened to terms like husband, wife, spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend?

I’m not saying you sound gay using the term it’s just that you have so many to choose from why use one that sounds stupid?

First Gay Kiss on a Daytime Soap

Add comment October 6th, 2007

Finally, daytime TV gives us a full on gay kiss. We already had lesbians kissing several times over on All My Children and ABC also has a gay character on General Hospital, but it was CBS and As The World Turns that has become the first daytime soap to feature a gay kiss.

gay kissAnd what a kiss it was. It wasn’t a simple little quick peck it was a full on “I-want-you” kind of kiss.

The storyline continues so if you missed it you will hopefully have an opportunity for more. So check out As The World Turns for more drama of the Luke and Noah variety and get yourself hooked on Nuke.

AsTheWorldTurns.net has a few archived video clips one of which shows Luke and Noah being caught by Noah’s father in the middle of one of those passionate kisses.

Wacko Woman at Walmart

Add comment May 30th, 2007

I was in the parking lot of the local Wal-Mart [so that should tell you the type of people we are dealing with here] when I heard this woman screaming F*** this and F*** that on the top of her lungs.

So of course I had to look and listen while putting my groceries into my car. She was yelling at what I could only assume was her daughter [the poor kid was so sunk down in the front seat trying to hide out of embarrssment you could not really tell who or what this deluge was being directed at].

All I could make out of this madness was: “you’re nothing but a stupid F***ing kid”, “I know right from wrong” [apparently not or you would not treat another human like this], “don’t tell me, I saw it with my own eyes”, “she was in your bed and her filthy hands were all over you”, “good people don’t act that way” and on and on. She did not even take a breath when I walked up next to the car to return my cart [they were parked next to the cart return] and paused to look into the car]. She did not even curtail the language with a small impressionable child in the carseat in the back, why would she stop being an a*hole just because I walked up.

I really wanted to reach out to this young person and tell them the rest of the wolrd is not this bad. Most of all I wished I could stick around to make sure it did not turn violent [it looked like it could go that way], but my frozen foods would no allow it.  I am sorry. If you are this person or know them please email me.  I hope your evening got better.

Batwoman on My Desk

Add comment May 30th, 2007

I got an opener figure today at Suncoast Video. And a discount to boot [the package was all smashed]. Wahoo!

She was immediately ripped open, stuck on her stand and placed on a spot of honor on my desk at work.

Batwoman FigureFigre description: Direct from the pages of DC’s Weekly Blockbuster comes Batwoman. Standing at 6.75″, this figure features multiple points of articulation and a base. 52: A year without Superman; a year without Batman; a year without Wonder Woman…but not a year without heroes.

This figure looks like it was ripped out of the pages of 52 and placed on my desk in 3D. She looks great and still has plenty of articulation even if she is in the sex-goddess [but still a little butch] pose. She comes with a 52 stand and a batarang which she holds in her closed fist.

DC Comics 52

1 comment May 10th, 2007

52 is over. We got a great story over the course of the year and some really good characters stepping up to fill the shoes of the big guns.

BatwomanI for one hope to see many of theses characters again and really, really hope DC will see fit to give Batwoman [in the 52 she’s a lesbian character] and Rene as the new Question both the own books. And when you do you can subscribe me to both of them.

Heck, I just got my Batwoman action figure and she tells me she is up for the challenge of a monthly series. Hey DC listen up will ya! Give the dyke a chance.

Will we see the rest of the season?

Add comment April 20th, 2007

I just heard that Lifetime has only picked up the first 13 episodes of Blood Ties. And if the ratings are good enough that maybe we will get to see the rest of the series.

I am just getting into this series [and getting used to actually watching something on Lifetime TV] and really would like to see it continue. I think networks are way too quick to pull the plug on shows. Especially in this day of DVRs. I record all my shows and watch them when I have the time. Rarly do I watch the show live. I guess this hurts the ratings and bugs the advertisers since I can then FF thru the commercials [when I remember to].

Guess it is time to write into the network and tell they have a pretty good thing on their hands and they need to bring us the rest. Why don’t you do that too? There is only about 4 episodes left and then maybe no more.

Here is what I sent them: I have enjoyed the series thus far [I don’t usually watch your network and it has brought me to you if that does say it all right there I don’t know what does] and I was hoping it will be picked up for the rest of the seaosn. Will it? And if it is when will you be airing it again?

Oh my goddess…

Add comment April 16th, 2007

Okay, I cannot believe I am the one to figure this out. Usually I am the last one to place a face or know an actor that looks familiar, but this time I got this one first.

I have been watching Blood Ties [Sundays @ 10 on Lifetime] and for the life of me I knew I knew the woman playing the lead role but could not place her. Then it dawned on me. Christina Cox whole plays Vicki Nelson was in Better Than Chocolate. [A nicely done lesbian love story where the girl actually gets the girl in the end instead of running off with the guy…you uknow what I am talking about Kevin Smith].

That little bit of knowledge alone is worth watching this series. I have gotten past the psuedo romance trying to play out between the three leads [seems stiff] the demonic storylines are enough for me. But I do think Vicki should drop the dead weight of Mike and stick with the hunky vampire [or at least I think he is supposed to be hunky].

Blood Ties

Add comment March 12th, 2007

I first heard of this during a commercial while my roomate was watching Golden Girls reruns one day. I don’t normally watch Lifetime but had to take a look into a series with Vampires and other occult themes on this “woman’s” channel. My Mom even called to tell me it was coming on [she knows how much I like my vamps].

Here is the description right from Lifetime’s site for Blood Ties: “Get ready to take a thrilling ride through the mystical world of private investigator Vicki Nelson, who finds herself solving supernatural crimes after joining forces with the mysterious and sexy Henry, who claims to be a 450-year-old vampire! When sparks start to fly between the unlikely pair, Vicki’s torn between her new fanged friend and her former colleague and sometime lover, Mike.”

I am still on the fence with this one as with all pilots this one did not really rock my boat. But that does not mean the series will not be good. I just need a few more episodes to get into it.
