The new Batman film is starting to pique my interest. Finally, there is a true dark Dark Knight film. Yes, the first two Batman films were darker and edgier than the rest of the films, which I like to forget about ever existing. The trailer shows a promising story and a scary Joker. I am seeing the name Harvey Dent thrown around. Hopefully, this is just his introduction and we won’t be hit with two bad guys yet again. You would think they would have learned from the fist time they tried to make the franchise fly and it failed. Or look at Marvel’s worst Spidey film to date. We do not need or want more than one villain at a time people.
With the rising cost of fuel oil it is getting to be really expensive to heat our house. We are in need of oil yet again. At this rate we might be freezing to death by the time the really cold weather hits us. We are looking into alternate ways to heat the house and the best thing we have come across are room heaters. Basically we will heat the rooms we are in and keep the rest of the house cooler to keep our oil usage down. Looks like Jodie foster may have just outed herself after all these years of wondering. During her recent acceptance speech for the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the 16th Annual Women in Entertainment breakfast she publicly thanked her long time friend Cydney Bernard. She thanked her by saying, “my beautiful Cydney who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss.”
Fans have often wondered if not wished she were a lesbian. Now it seems she is a little more comfortable with it and is letting the rest of us in on the secret. Jodie has always been good at staying out of the tabloids and I don’t see her coming out [if indeed she did] would make her any more of a target for them.
All I have to say is — way to go Jodie and congrats on that award too.
Since the accident I have pretty much been stuck in the house with nothing to do but watch television and play on my computer. At least Sweeny Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is my choice of films I must see this Christmas. And I don’t even like musicals!
I love Johnny Depp. There really is not too much on his resume that I do not like. Heck it would almost be easier for me to tell you which films he did that I disliked over trying to tell you which ones I loved the best. However, The combination of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton has always proven to be a good one. Just look at their other films they have done together.
Edward Scissorhands is an excellent start. In fact you could almost site that alone as a perfect example of this pairing, but there is also Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory aka Willy Wonka and The Corpse Bride. All of these are great films.
Mr. Burton knows how to immerse us into the dark fantasy realm and Mr. Depp knows how to play the perfect characters for those worlds. I see Sweeny Todd being no different.
I just love Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. He is perfectly dark, slightly mad and completely over the top in a wonderfully flamboyant way. The truly makes that character some to love rather than hate. As long as Disney keeps making them I will keep seeing them.
However, I do like the really dark characters Johnny has played in the past too. Secret Window was great. You never know until the very end just how dark and twisted he really is. Looks like Sweeny Todd will give us another taste of scary Depp. Another wonderfully twisted character for Depp was Ed Wood (I just loved seeing him in that angora sweater).
Another film he did which deserved better than what the box office suggested was From Hell the film about Jack the Ripper. Depp did an excellent job and the film was a terrific adaptation of the Alan Moore graphic novel. In fact I am probably going to have to pop that into the ole DVD player while I am out of work due to my accident this past Sunday. Perhaps a Johnny Depp film fest at my house is in order.

The new Microsoft game Mass Effect has been banned in Singapore due to graphic content.
What is that graphic content you might ask? Well, two women kissing. The game has a scene in which a human woman is kissing and caressing an alien woman. Singapore’s Media Development Authority reportedly banned it.
Singapore has a ban on sex between men, which was recently upheld by their parliament and their Prime Minister said the city-state should keeps its values and not allow rights to homosexuals. [Pigs!]
So far Singapore is the only closed-minded country to ban the game.
Guess I am going to have to get someone to buy me an XBOX 360 and a copy of this game. Has anyone posted a video of this scene on YouTube yet.
