Weird Dreams

Add comment March 13th, 2009

Had a dream the other night where I was stuck in this little town (one I dream about often but have never been in) and I was circling the same three block radius. Every time I would pass this one intersection there was an accident. A different accident each time I passed. Finally after about the fifth time around I stopped to talk to someone about all the accidents. After that I all of the sudden find myself dumpster diving. I am digging coke reward points out of the trash.

I know the trapped part of the dream means I am feeling trapped or stuck about something in my life but what in the world is the meaning of dreaming about diggin through a trash dumpster?

Dreams are just weird. I tell you.

Chasing Dogs on the Highway

Add comment February 13th, 2009

I spent a good part of my morning trying to save some dogs on the highway again! This is the second time in like 2 or 3 months. This time it was on the other end of 176. All of the sudden the traffic came to a screeching halt and I saw two dogs running back across the highway after almost being hit by a truck (who apparently couldn’t care less if he hit the dogs or not).

Three of us stopped and tried to save the scared pups. One was a st. bernard and the other a shepherd mix. We got them off the road but they wouldn’t come to anyone. They finally went through a hole in the fence and ran up through the woods.

There are two things I would like to see happen. 1) People would take better care with there animals and know where they are and 2) people on the roads would be a little cautious around animals no matter if it is a skunk, a deer or a dog.

Harrowing experience on the highway this morning

Add comment November 15th, 2008

I was driving to work when all of the sudden on the road directly in front of me was a 5 gallon bucket. I was in the passing lane and said bucket was in the middle of that lane. The pickup truck in front of me was high enough to clear the bucket (it was on its side) otherwise I could have been hit by a flying bucket and had my wind shield broken. Unfortunately there was as no room to get around the bucket. A white porche was next to me and there was a steep hill to my left. So my choices were hit the bucket, hit the porche or roll my car down a hill. I went with hit the bucket.

It made a horrible sound and shot across the right lane just missing that porche. Needless to say I was extremely stressed out by the whole thing. I haven’t got the money to fix any damage to my car or anyone else s either.

Plus with my past experience I was pretty shook up even though it turned out to be a rather minor incident when all was said and done. Here’s hoping tomorrow’s commute goes better.

You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

Okay, I have been accused of making stuff up in the past so I thought I would post some proof. As if my pictures weren’t proof enough my labor day picnic fun made it to the front page of the paper.

Minivan plows through back wall of Reading duplex; none hurt
By Greta Cuyler of the Reading Eagle

Reading, PA - A New York City woman visiting her son in northeast Reading took a wrong turn Monday and drove her minivan into his house, city police said.

Mildred Brito of the Bronx drove the vehicle through the rear wall of the house in the 1500 block of Palm Street shortly after 3:30 p.m, officials said.

The minivan came to a stop with its front end in the kitchen and back end on the rear porch of the duplex, which is owned by Andrys Brito, 22, and Angelina Sepulveda, whose age was unavailable, investigators said. (read the rest of the article at ReadingEagle.com)

All Shook Up and Nowhere to Go But The Kitchen

Add comment September 1st, 2008

OMG! I was sitting in my living room watching the Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon on the SCIFI Channel and working on my website StarTrekToysOnline.com when all of the sudden there was this loud crash followed by several very loud bangs. The whole house shook. Car in Kitchen I got so scared I jumped from my reclined position and ran to the stairs thinking something fell on top of my roommate and or she fell while carrying something heavy up the stairs. (She has been known to try to carry furniture upstairs by herself.) I started yelling for her to make sure she was okay. No answer. So now I am really getting scared. The sound encompassed the entire back of our house and sounded as if it was coming from the second floor. She finally answered me from our kitchen. I asked her if she knew what had happened and if she was okay. I think she was in shock. She was walking around the kitchen all too calmly while I was panicking. She calmly said, “I think their porch came down.” Meaning the upstairs balcony porch. So I ran outside to look at what happened. What I saw put me into an even bigger panic. Car in KitchenI said something like, “holy hell, we have got to move out of here.” When you take a look at the pictures I took you’ll understand the reasons behind that statement. (Combine this with my fear that the college kids that used to live there would burn the house down with the parties they had there all the time.)

Here is what I saw when I went out my back door, my neighbor, the one attached to our house (we’re in a duplex) or one of their guests, drove through their back wall right into the kitchen. This is the type of thing you see on TV not in real life! (Everyone Loves Raymond had his parents drive through the front of the house.) So after taking this all in I ran back in the house and called 911 because I did not know if anyone in the car or in the kitchen was hurt. They said they would send everyone out and they showed up within a few minutes. Pretty good response time, that is nice to know. Car in KitchenOnce I calmed down a little I realized my neck and head hurt. I gave myself whiplash when I got up so quickly! Our house does not seem to have suffered any structural damage on our side the guys from the fire department came through and check us out. Not sure about the other half. They eventually got the van out of the kitchen and it sounded almost as bad as when it went through the wall. Our cats are still hiding under the beds. I wish I could join them.

Real Life Mario Kart

Add comment August 24th, 2008

Mario KartMario Kart is one heck of hard game to find. I had to borrow a friend’s to see if I like it before resorting to ordering it online. I guess I might have to buy it, as it is pretty fun. Although I do suck at it guess I’ll get better with practice. I ran a few races then tried my hand at an online game or two. There’s nothing like getting your ass beat by people across North America (I chose regional because I did not want to be a world class loser just yet).

My ride home on Friday night was a little like real life Mario Kart. I’m driving along minding my own business when this jackass decides he has to come over in my lane. I lay on my horn and he keeps coming over. I don’t think he ever looked over or even used his side mirror at all. Finally, just before he hit me and/or forced me into the cement median he pulled back into his lane and looked at me like I’m to blame that he can’t drive. Sometimes I really can’t stand people.

Hot Car Not Cooling Off

Add comment August 24th, 2008

There is nothing worse than getting into a dark car on a hot summer day except getting into that same car when the air conditioner isn’t working properly. My friend’s new car (you know the one she got after our accident last November) just does not seem to cool off the car. There has to be something wrong with the a/c compressor. It seems to cool off but just doesn’t pump that cool air into the car very well. Instead of paying the high prices at the dealership to get the part and fix the car she has been checking out DiscountACParts.com for the parts and my father will do the work. The parts are new and have a warranty so it really is a no brainer about getting her AC fixed and her hot car cooled off.

Comcast Cable Sucks Here’s Why - Part 5: The Jerks That Drive Their Vans

Add comment August 6th, 2008

Aggressive drivers really should behave themselves while driving the company car. Maybe they get so caught up in their speeding and tailgating they forget they are in an easily identifiable vehicle.

I had this Comcast van (#50 by the way) riding my but the whole way up route 12 in Reading today (around 6:15). He must have been late getting home or something. Finally, when he got off my bumper he whipped around me cutting me off a went speeding down the road.

Isn’t there any way we can report aggressive drivers? Wish there was.

Traumatized By Accident Today

1 comment July 7th, 2008

This morning I witnessed an accident. Heck I was almost in the accident. This guy was flying up beside me on the left (I was in the middle lane) and the traffic was heavy up ahead due to road construction. Well he wasn’t going to wait. He zipped around behind me to make a right hand turn from the far left lane!

I followed the whole thing in my mirrors. As I got to my passenger side mirror I saw him being hit by a Toyota pickup that was coming down the far right lane. It really shook me up. I pulled over to see if they were okay and to give them my name and number for the cops to call me as a witness if needed. (It was clearly the aggressive driving of the guy in the car’s fault). I was too shook up to actually stay there. If I had I think I would have had an anxiety attack.

I am thankful that I was not hit by the guy as he nearly clipped me as he whipped behind my car. The way I felt (and still do) I do not know how I would have reacted if I was involved more than merely witnessing it. As it was I was a nervous wreck the entire day at work.

Allergic Reaction to Perfume

Add comment June 24th, 2008

Every day it seems that my allergies get worse. The other day I had a pretty bad allergic reaction to a co-workers perfume. I have always been overly sensitive to strong smells especially if my sinuses are infected or if my seasonal allergies are in full bloom (so to speak). But this was more than mere sensitivity. My throat felt like it was closing, my voice changed, my breathing became labored and my eyes were burning.

As my symptoms progressed I started to get scared. And I did not have my eppy pen with me. Idiot!

So I called my doctor to see if there was anything I should do. The nurse I spoke with told me I was just sensitive to smells, true but this was more than that. I was having the same type of allergic reaction as if I just ate celery. (That’s right I said celery.)

Thank god my co-worker was out of the office for most of the day so I had a chance to clear the air and start to feel a little better. My voice never did get back to normal until the next day. Overall I felt lousy for the next couple of days.

I am often affected in this way while out shopping. At least then I can leave the building and go home where I can breath. I can’t just come and go at work.

Hate Driving in the Big City

Add comment June 4th, 2008

NYC really is the town I love to hate and hate to love. I live so close, but never get the chance to go to New York. Part of the reason for that is my fear of driving in such a huge city. I am not just afraid I am terrified. And this was even before I ever had my accident.

So how does someone get around the Big Apple if they are afraid to drive there? Get a drive that’s how. There is this limo service Brooklyn and Manhattan called Dial 7. They’ll get me where I need to go and I don’t have to worry about the traffic or the parking.

To Sue Or Not To Sue That Is The Question

Add comment May 1st, 2008

After my accident I had considered suing the person responsible for the crash. I spoke to a lawyer and he did not in still too much hope in me about my case. The one thing that scared me away from the lawsuit was the fact that it could take months to years to actually get the money. That is if we even won our case.

At the time I did not know about LawMax Legal Finance they offer lawsuit cash advances. Where they advance you the money so you can continue to pay your bills and live your life without worry until your case is finished. Best part is, if you don’t win you don’t pay them back.

It is too late for me, but if you are holding off due to possible financial problems while seeking a resolution check them out and see if they can offer your some much needed assistance.

Liz Martelli You Will Be Missed

Add comment March 24th, 2008

Two days ago a young girl in our neighborhood died in a car accident. She was only 24. Only a few years older than my niece. While I may not have personally known her I do remember hearing about her from my friend who was her art teacher in middle school and about how talented and nice she was. Any time a life is taken it is sad, but when one has barely had time to start their life it is all the sadder.

Liz Martelli’s ArtworkLiz was a talented artist and quite the poet. You can read her poems at her MySpace page as long as they keep it up and as a memorial to her I will be posting her work on whataslacker.com. I just don’t think it should be lost.  The photo to the right is one of her pieces. You can see it as well as other fine artists on the Berks Humane Society’s Art of Arf’s Sake website.

An obituary for Elizabeth Martelli was posted on the Reading Eagle’s website
