Comcast is so ticking me off again. They splash advertisements all over the place trying to get you to sign up for their triple play program (TV, internet and phone) by enticing you with a free gift. Last month it was a Wii, the month before that a TV this month it is a years free DVR rental.
Well I finally broke down and did it. Guess what? You have to be a new customer. Not just a new customer to the triple play (which I am), but never having had an account with Comcast ever. I don’t think their fine print that flashes across the screen says that. All it says is new customer and I fit that bill as I NEVER, EVER had a triple play account. Oh, and to top it all off the price I was quoted is only good for a year. I wasn’t told it was special pricing. I was told that was the price (by the lady in the corporate office). Now I learn it will mostly likely double after my year is up! Sometimes I hate Comcast (okay so most of the time I hate them).

Aggressive drivers really should behave themselves while driving the company car. Maybe they get so caught up in their speeding and tailgating they forget they are in an easily identifiable vehicle.
I had this Comcast van (#50 by the way) riding my but the whole way up route 12 in Reading today (around 6:15). He must have been late getting home or something. Finally, when he got off my bumper he whipped around me cutting me off a went speeding down the road.
Isn’t there any way we can report aggressive drivers? Wish there was.

Well, I was hoping to be able to actually watch all the shows I had on my crappy Motorola DVR from Comcast before it finally died, but it does not look like I will be able to unless I do it quick.
I got home tonight and it was doing that same lovely trick of going to a black screen after I pause or try to rewind. I had to do a hard reboot again, which thankfully worked again this time, but for how long?
Basically, my hard drive is slowly going bad and I have to get a new box from Comcast. Shame they have not come up with the technology to transfer the saved content to a new hard drive or letting us attached an external hard drive to expand the memory. Oh, TIVO you are starting to look good even at the additional costs.

Like all good horror flicks this post has a sequel too. I have been getting hits from people searching on how to access FEARnet on demand. And you know what that is a good question.
When they first announced the “channel” on Comcast I was excited but I too had trouble figuring it all out. You can get to their website and watch stuff online, but no real instructions on how to get to the films on Comcast.
Well it turns out that you can get to them in several ways. There is an actual channel set aside for them, which I think is really, really stupid since the films are on demand and no channel other than channel 1 is really needed. So if you access the channel [my local service has it at 166] you are simply taken to ON DEMAND albeit straight to the FEARnet content.
If you access FEARnet via channel 1 you get the ON DEMAND main menu form there you can access FEARnet from two different ways. Go to FREE MOVIES then to FEARnet then choose your poison. If you go to FREE MOVIES and review the movie listings by category or titles you will find that most of the horror films listed here are from FEARnet. But I would not even bother if I were you as FEARnet really sucks. There are many other great horror channels out there that offer more content and even series as well as films but Comcast choose to go with this crappy service. Call Comcast and tell them you do not want FEARnet that you would prefer they give the Chiller channel or another higher quality channel anything other than FEARnet. They can check out the Direct TV line up if they need help finding a better channel. But I think they are more concerned with bringing us ON DEMAND content than quality channels. They continue to raise our prices and don’t listen to what we want. Give them a call at 800-comcast and tell them you are sick of it. I know I am and I have already called…several times.

As an on demand service under the movie category I expect certain things. One of which is no commercials. They have put commercials smack in the middle of their films.
When I first heard about this new service from Comcast I was very happy, especially since we do not get the channels that Direct TV gets such as the Horror Channel and now the Chiller Channel. Hell we still haven’t gotten Boomerang yet! But my excitement was soon dashed when I watched my first film on this new “channel”. I use the term channel loosely since when you click on the “channel” it simply takes you to the on demand service [which you can access via the remote or going to channel 1 so why use up actual channel numbers for a service that is already supplied with a channel number?]
Back on track here. The first time I watched a horror movie on FEARnet I was bombarded with ads and this very big Fearnet logo [or bug] at the bottom of my screen. Which is really distracting. Especially when they decide to extend it across the entire bottom of the screen taking up a third of the viewing area. This alone was enough to keep me from viewing films that were featured on FEARnet through Comcast [although it is hard to be discriminating when they mix the titles into all film titles under free movies].
Well I broke down this weekend when I saw several films with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. I really thought I could deal with the big bugs on the screen but little did I know that was not all. They have now added a commercial in the middle of the films! I can deal with them in the beginning of the onDemand films and shows but come on don’t put them in the middle of a feature film! I don’t even watch AMC any more because they change their format from commercial free to all commercials – this really makes Monsterfest suck every year.
So FEARnet is on my list of only watch it when something better isn’t on due to their forcing advertising down our throats.
Now on to Comcast and trying to get them to simply remove all the added OD channels and make them give us real channels for our viewing pleasure. Head over to Comcast.com and give them an ear full and let them know we want Boomerang, Chiller Channel and a bunch of other good programming they seem fit to allow the satellite companies to keep to themselves. If they don’t give them to us maybe we should all start heading to them.
The horror continues in FEARnet Sucks Part II…
