I was just over at SheSpeaks.com (trying to sign up for a product test) when I stumbled onto their blog post about this video game that even I think is rather disgusting (coming from me that means a lot).
Mind you, I am not one for censorship, but this game pushes the envelope (even my envelope and hopefully yours too). And I have to say I almost agree with it being pulled from online stores like Amazon and eBay.
The game is called Rapelay and I can only hope it has a rating of MATURE and all places selling it are checking Ids before handing it over to anyone. (Shame you can’t do a psych evaluation too as this game is harsh and some sick minds thrive on this shit.)
If you thought Grand Theft Auto and the like were bad influences on your kids they have nothing on this game where you stalk, assault and rape mothers and their daughters.
People are trying to get this horrid game banned. But I am not so sure a ban is really what should be done. Historically banned games, videos, and music always seem to sell more after they have been banned. What needs to be done is to educate parents about these things, encourage them to watch what their kids are playing and get those parents to stop the game from ever entering their kids lives, because if people want this game they will get it ban or no ban.
This is the type of video game that you would expect to find in a Hentai shop or an adult bookstore along with all the other sex games, not on the shelves of your local Walmart or even the virtual shelves of Amazon or eBay.

CBS announces new licensing agreements to hock Twilight Zone merchandise inlcuding a US postage stamp (probably the reason stamps are going up to 44 cents in May).
Other products will include games, dolls and Hallmark ornaments.
So I guess the new Star Trek film isn’t the only thing CBS is whoring out.

Like Pooh Bear said, “I was only gonna taste it.”
I don’t think this bad boy was only gonna taste it. He is known for chewing on wires. I had to pull up those PS2 cables before he got a chance to rip into them. Boris thinks anything and everything is a cat toy!

LeapFrog FLY Fusion Pentop Computer is more than just a digital pen. It is an educational tool as well. It is made by Leapfrog so we adults that are using it sometimes feel like we are using a kid’s toy more than a productive piece of equipment. I would say that the fly fusion is geared more toward the junior high (oops I am showing my age there, I mean middle school) and high school crowds, but college students and adults can also use it.
As you write on special paper with the pen it scans your text into the pen then you download your notes to your PC where you can store, email, edit and organize them. You can get additional math and language programs for the pen as well. All your applications can be accessed through a control panel on the fly fusion notebooks. You can even play MP3s through the pen.
Since I’m not in school I don’t really need the added test prep or math programs, but the composition and language programs could be of some use. For the most part the pen work s pretty well. I do have to fix a few errors once my handwriting is converted to a word document, but I would need to proof read a typed document as well. For $ 79 you get the pen, a very thin notebook and $10 download card to use with the enclosed software so you can add games and other apps right away. If you head over to the online store you can pick up additional notebooks, ink, memory cards, a case and other goodies.
I bought the Target exclusive black pen because I thought it looked classier. Well it doesn’t any more because nothing else comes in black. So my pen now looks like Frankenstein. Also the ink is only about 2 thirds that of a regular pen so you’ll want extras right away and I have not seen the ink refills in any store just online. Ink is available in blue, red or green but not black. I like the pen it is nice to carry a tablet and pen with me instead of my laptop. If you do a lot of writing (blogging) you might want to take a look a the fly fusion for under a hundred bucks it is a handy tool to have.
Right now the FLY Fusion Pentop Computer is only $50 at Amazon.

This week’s I Want It Wednesday post is pretty simple. As you can see by my earlier posts I obviously have a Wii. It took me a while and at first I wasn’t sure I was falling for all the hype. Then my nieces got one and I went over to play. Big mistake.
First because the hooked me on Guitar Hero another bit of popular culture I wasn’t going to get sucked into. Well within a week of playing it I had Guitar Hero III for my PS2 and had spent the weekend doing nothing but playing the game. Then the following week I wound up buying the other three games too!
Soon after I jumped on the Guitar Hero bandwagon I decided I would hitch my wagon to the Wii as well. But no Guitar Hero for the Wii has come into play just yet.
This month Rock Band comes out for the Wii and you guessed it, I want it.

Wii lets you download old school video games by buying points and using those points towards those downloads. Technically you are not buying the games you are licensing the games so I am not sure what will happen should Nintendo ever pull that license. I guess your Wii would just stop playing the games. Which really kind of sucks. Also you cannot play your games on other Wii systems. Again this sucks. I “bought” it I should be able to play it where ever, when ever. So what good is saving the games to an SD card if they can’t travel? Okay, so I’ll still download as it is easier than digging out the old NES to play Zelda.

Sports. Some of us hate them and some of us love them. I fall on the hate them end of that scale. But I am surrounded by fans so I see more than my fair share of sports without even wanting to.
At least I am luckier than most as I only have football to deal with and not the full gambit of the sports world. So if you’re the better half of a sports nut tell them about AddictSports.com. It is a one stop site for sports forums, football picks, fantasy sports and more.

Beer and cigarettes, not your usual treats for kids is it? When my nieces were little and my mom would be watching them they would stop by this little local general store and buy just that, beer and cigarettes.
Okay, so it was root beer and candy sticks (called candy cigarettes back in my day). They would love this. Made them feel like they were being bad and all grown up. (Funny thing about this is no one in the family drinks or smokes in real life. So where do the kids get these ideas? TV?)
Now they are just about all grown up (20 and 17) but the other day when we were passing that little store we asked if they wanted to stop in for beer and cigarettes and the answer was yes. We got an added bonus of (bubble gum) cigars too.
So we had ourselves a wild little party of Guitar Hero, beer and cigarettes. Pretty fun afternoon especially since the teenagers decided to hang out with us old farts.

After coming across the Coleco Star Trek game on the Handheld Games Museum I decided to poke around and see what other Star Trek games they had listed and which ones I did not know about. Here is what I found…

-
Milton Bradley Microvison Star Trek Phaser Strike
-
Collins Wrath of Khan Video Game Watch
-
Konami Star Trek 25th Anniversary Game
-
Tiger Electronic Star Trek: The Next Generation LCD Game
And while not a Star Trek game in name the Bandai Pair Match game has been used as prop on TNG as seen in the screencaps below.

Guess I have some eBay shopping to do now.

I just stumbled onto a Star Trek Toy I had never heard of before. While this is not a very surprising statement to many people, I pride myself in knowing quite a bit about Star Trek collectibles. After all I have been collecting the stuff for nearly twenty years now.
I am far from an expert on these things more of an obsessed fan really. Check out StarTrekToysOnline.com if you need proof of just how crazy I am when it comes to Star Trek toys and collectibles.
Today’s find is a Coleco handheld Star Trek game based on Star Trek: The Motion Picture. According to the Handheld Museum this toy was most likely never made. The really good ones often aren’t. Just look at the Palisades Roddenberry/Captain Kirk set which never went past the prototype stages.
There really are a lot of Star Trek things I still don’t know about out there [so feel free to post a comment to this and let me know of anything out there that you see that is unique].

If Family Adventure Has a Name, It Must Be LEGO® Indiana Jones: The Videogame
LucasArts and TT Games Don Their Fedoras for the Next Great LEGO Gaming Experience
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — July 27, 2007 — LucasArts and TT Games today announced that LEGO® Indiana Jones®: The Videogame [working title] will whip onto game consoles everywhere in summer 2008. Developed by the same team at Traveller’s Tales that created the LEGO Star Wars™ series, LEGO Indiana Jones presents a tongue-in-cheek take on the first three cinematic adventures of pop culture’s most iconic archaeologist, including Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
“LucasArts and TT Games are setting the bar for next-generation family entertainment with the LEGO Star Wars franchise, and our incredible relationship continues with LEGO Indiana Jones,” said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. “In addition to providing the quality bonding time inspired by any good family game, LEGO Indiana Jones delivers something a little different for everyone. Parents will enjoy the humorous take on some of their favorite movies, and their kids get some rousing action/adventure gameplay that may also introduce them to Indy’s original adventures for the first time.”
“It has been a real joy to work with LucasArts on the LEGO Star Wars games. Indiana Jones is the perfect character for the next LEGO-based videogame adventure,” said Tom Stone, director at TT Games. “Indy also presents us with wonderful and memorable cinematic moments. The boulder scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark in LEGO is hilarious!”
Lucasfilm Ltd. recently announced that the LEGO Group will begin releasing LEGO Indiana Jones playsets in January 2008. Meanwhile, LucasArts remains hard at work on its revolutionary, internally developed Indiana Jones videogame, which takes place a year after The Last Crusade in an original story overseen by George Lucas.

I have been hearing that action figures are dead. That kids don’t play with them any more. All they want are video games and collectible card games. Well that’s just not true. Spend a day with a kid at Grandma’s house [no video games] and give him a figure or two to play with. Guess what the imagination comes back and they play. [True story this past easter sunday with a seven year old who played for hours with my Venom and Spidey figures.]
So while toy stores are pulling the plug on figures they are still out there to get you just need to adjust your shopping to online or comic shops to get them.
It would be great to see the big toy stores [Toys R Us and KB Toys] give crappy figures like the McFarlane bullsh** a rest and bring back figures with playability!
Check out this article for more info on some cool figures you’ll have to go searching to find…. Action figures Aren’t Dead Yet at ScifiSlacker.com
