Big Bottoms Good for More Than Just a Spinal Tap Song

Add comment May 15th, 2008

Mom always told me that people that had diabetes like her were shaped like her with thin legs and rounder in the middle. Turns out she might actually be right.

Scientists are now saying that the fat found around the hips and thighs may actually protect you against getting the disease. So it turns out a big bottom just might be good for you. Hey, my fat ass just might save my life.

According to the Rueter’s article, “Researchers have known for some time that fat that collects in the abdomen — known as visceral fat — can raise a person’s risk of diabetes and heart disease, while people with pear-shaped bodies, with fat deposits in the buttocks and hips, are less prone to these disorders.” So I guess she was right.

They have found that transplanting subcutaneous fat from those areas to the stomach can help improve a person’s sensitivity to insulin.

Find more information on how your big butt is good for you by reading the following:

Big Bottoms by Spinal Tap

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin
That’s what I said.
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
Or so I have read.
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo.
I love to sink her with my pink torpedo.

Big bottom
Big bottom
Talk about bum cakes,
My gal’s got ‘em.
Big bottom,
Drive me out of my mind.
How can I leave this behind?

I saw her on monday, twas my lucky bun day
You know what I mean.
I love her each weekday, each velvety cheekday
You know what I mean.
My love gun’s loaded and she’s in my sights
Big game’s waiting there inside her tights

Big bottom
Big bottom
Talk about mud flaps
My gal’s got ‘em.
Big bottom
Drive me out of my mind.
How can I leave this behind?

Meat Loaf Hams It Up In Go Phone Commercial

Add comment April 30th, 2008

Looking for answers to some questions brought up by my friend about the ATT Go Phone commercial featuring Meat Loaf and got no where with Yahoo Answers. Not that it was my first choice. [This is a good example of how user supplied content can go awry.]

Yahoo Answers, what’s the point? I assume they set this up to give people actual answers to their questions, but thus far I have not found anything good or accurate about the site. It is nothing more than a forum. My suggestion to people it to head to Answers.com or search on Wikipedia, but still take your answers you get with a grain of salt. But for Yahoo Answers take those with an entire shaker of salt. Because the questions are ill formed and the answers are incomplete. You’ll find better answers by looking elsewhere.

Example: Googled Meat Loaf Go Phone Commercial [I wanted to know who was in the commercial with him]. I feel Google is at fault here too for ranking this idiotic site so high. The third result was for Yahoo Answers to this question:

“If you can remember 8 tracks, or the “Time Warp” then you probably won’t know Meat Loaf. Is that Ellen Foley (Paradise by the Dashboard Lights) with him in the commercial? I know Meat has two daughters, but does he have a son?”

The question was marked resolved with this answer:

“The wife in the commercial is 80’s pop star Tiffany.”

This only partly answers the question as Meat Loaf only has two daughters and no sons. To completely answer the question they could have told us who the actor playing the son is as well.

My problem with this whole system is with the incorrect and incomplete answers but sometimes it lies in the questions too. Like this question. I remember 8 tracks and the Time Warp and I certainly do know who Meat Loaf is. How could anyone who knows the Time Warp NOT know who Meat Loaf is? EDDIE!

Oh, I found the answer to who is the son in the commercial. According to Best Week Ever he is played by Adam Cagley.

Tiffany is getting to be quite the guest shot star herself. She was recently in the Robin Sparkles video on the TV show How I Met Your Mother.

Another Mangled Mailing

Add comment March 30th, 2008

What is it with me and getting Star Trek stuff in the mail? Or is it just anything via mail order these days?

I just received my copy of Brent Spiners new CD Dreamland. Well actually I just received my second copy of this disc. My first one came to me a bit mangled and the plastic part that holds the CD was broken and the disk was scratched.

Since I paid extra to get a signed copy and being the big ole Star Trek collecting geek that I am I had to get another one since the first one was no where near mint.

I have not had time to listen to the CD yet. I am too busy listening to the Philip Pullman books in the His Dark Materials series. Already finished The Golden Compass and I am about half way through the second in the series, The Subtle Knife. Once I complete these I will through Brent Spiner’s Dreamland into the MP3 player and give her a listen. I have a feeling I will like it as I liked what I heard before I bought it.

While I am on the topic of Brent Spiner, I have been hearing rumors and questions from people wondering if he is gay. Quite honestly I would have to say no. The ole gaydar has been ringing for years with him but I think it is a false positive. Hey people seem to think Wil Wheaton is gay too, but he is married, I think. I never got that from him either. Most likely people are just reading their geekiness as homosexuality, but I could be wrong all around. Wouldn’t be the first time you know. As far as I know the only out gay member of any star trek cast is George Takei. Again, this does not mean there aren’t others.

Phooey on the Foo Fighters

Add comment March 8th, 2008

The foo fighters are suing Marvel Comics for using one or two of their Songs in a promo for the new X-men cartoon.

I for one think it is ridiculous. How can they claim damages when no one even remembers who the foo fighters are?

Heck, I would think they should be happy with the free publicity and exposure. Although that does bring me back to who remembers them and would even know those were their songs.

Wolverine and the X-MenApparently they have a new album coming out. Maybe that is the reason for the lawsuit against Marvel in the first place. Perhaps they are suing The comic book giant to drum up publicity for the band and the new CD.

I can’t believe a big production company like Marvel wouldn’t have gotten the proper permissions. Most likely they had several trailers prepared and accidentally sent the wrong one out to the TV stations.

I for one will not be buying any foo fighters music but I will be watching the Marvel Wolverine and the X-men cartoon. So I guess that Marvel wins this battle [at least in my case they do].

Not knowing the Foo Fighters music I would have to assume this video of the Marvel trailer for Wolverine and the X-Men has the copyright infringing music in it.
