When I first read that Swing was a spinoff of the Sunstone universe, I was super excited. I absolutely loved Sunstone. The art. The story. The BDSM sex. All of it. Judging a book by its cover Swing had the same feel from the artwork presented there. Turns out the artist, Linda Sejic, is the wife of the writer/artist of Sunstone and they apparently have very similar styles.
Definitely read the intro “Into the Lifestyle” at the beginning of the book as it gives you some background into the story along with key terms many of us vanilla folks will need to grasp some of the dialogue.
At its heart this is a love story. With lots of sex and sex with other folks (but what did you expect from an adult title called Swing).
So how is this related to Sunstone? It is set in the same universe as the girls in Sunstone and even from another of Linda’s books, Blood Stain, which I will be reading next. You even get a glimpse of those characters in a few panels as they are part of Dan’s gaming circle in this book.
Be sure to read the “Sex Ed” afterward for the book as well for more insight into the creation and evolution of the book. Worth the extra read. This book left me wanting more and I am definitely looking forward to volume two.
While it isn’t a spinoff of Sunstone, not really, it is a great book in the same genre as Sunstone and continues with quality story and artwork not just sex for the sake of sex.
Explicit sex is shown. 18+
