RGB LED Light for Video and Photography

I was recently given the opportunity to review this product and thought I would give it a shot. (see what I did there?)

It comes nicely packaged and includes a velvet-like bag to protect the light. But the bag is only big enough to hold the light with the battery attached. Not the battery charger. Which is a shame as it would be nice to keep it together when storing the light.

The RGB controls can be done via a wifi connection with your smartphone or with the dials on the back of the unit.

The above image is how the app starts up. I had trouble connecting and staying connected. Also this is not the controls for this light. I believe those controls are for a different light.

These were the controls that actually worked with the light. However, with the dial being cut off by the channel (color selector) bar it was difficult to make changes to the hue without messing up the channel.

There are no instructions (the few that are there are confusing). It is pretty mich trial and error in using this light with the app. That is if you can get the app to work.

I found using the dials much easier and precise. With the light in position it is not always easy to reach over and change the settings. That is where having a good working app would have been beneficial.

I think having some control over color will be nice in studio shots. Just to show the overall color change I took a few photos of a mostly white object.

Overall, I like the light. I just think the app needs work. And since this is an app hopefully they will work out the connection issues and design flaws and give an update soon. Perhaps simply offering the product with a small remote would have been better?
